This Project focuses on the preparation of a comprehensive Management Plan for the Hrazdan Gorge Protected Landscape, supporting the long-term conservation and sustainable use of this valuable urban ecosystem. The approach integrates nature conservation, spatial planning, ecosystem management, GIS-based analysis, nature-based solutions, and participatory governance principles.
Key objectives include:
Development of a Protected Landscape Management Framework – Preparing a comprehensive management plan defining conservation objectives, zoning principles, permitted uses, governance arrangements, and operational requirements.
Biodiversity and Ecosystem Conservation – Supporting the protection of natural habitats, ecological connectivity, ecosystem services, and key biodiversity values within the Hrazdan Gorge.
Integrated Urban–Environmental Planning – Applying GIS tools, nature-based solutions, and sustainable landscape planning approaches to balance conservation and urban development needs.
Institutional Capacity Strengthening – Supporting effective governance, stakeholder engagement, and long-term management mechanisms aligned with national environmental priorities and international good practices.
The Project will provide a strategic framework for the establishment and long-term management of the Hrazdan Gorge Protected Landscape, ensuring effective conservation, sustainable use, and integration of ecological values into urban development planning. The Management Plan will serve as a foundation for future conservation actions, investment planning, and climate-resilient urban development.
