Our Philosophy

The foundation of the company is closely linked to the academic and professional development of its founder, Areg Karapetyan, whose career began in ecology and evolved toward a strong focus on understanding the complex interactions between ecosystems and human systems. The core team of the company consists of professionals with long-standing experience in both scientific research and policy development, bringing together interdisciplinary expertise across environmental and socio-economic domains.Building on this foundation, the company was established in 2017 to provide specialized environmental consulting services in Armenia and the wider region, with a focus on ecosystem services, biodiversity, and integrated natural resource management. Our mission is to bridge the gap between science and practice by translating ecological knowledge into practical solutions for decision-making and implementation.

We are a specialized company providing environmental outsourcing services to support decision-makers in integrated natural resource and landscape management.

Our expertise spans natural and semi-natural ecosystems, with a strong emphasis on biodiversity assessment and ecosystem services valuation.

We deliver services ranging from expert consulting and technical assistance to complex project implementation, including the development of applied tools and products.

Our Philosophy and Inspiration

Our work is grounded in the evolving understanding of social–ecological systems, reflecting decades of scientific and policy thinking on the relationship between nature and human development.

From Limits to Integration

1970s – Limits to Growth

Early global analyses by the Club of Rome highlighted the finite nature of planetary resources and the risks of unbalanced economic growth.

1990s–2000s – Governance of Common Resources

The work of Elinor Ostrom demonstrated that ecosystems can be sustainably managed through adaptive, participatory, and locally embedded governance systems.

2000s – Ecosystem Services Framework

The ecosystem services approach reframed nature as a provider of essential benefits for human well-being and economic systems, strengthening the link between ecology and economics.

2010s – From Concept to Global Assessments (TEEB & IPBES)

Major international initiatives such as the TEEB and the IPBES translated ecosystem services and biodiversity science into global assessment frameworks, policy tools, and decision-support approaches. These processes strengthened the recognition of nature’s value in economic, social, and policy systems worldwide.

2020s – Mainstreaming Nature into Decision-Making

Global frameworks such as the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and related policy processes focus on integrating biodiversity and ecosystem services into spatial planning, financial systems, and development strategies.

Where We Stand Today

We operate within this evolving framework, translating ecosystem science into practical tools                           for sustainable planning, biodiversity conservation, and decision-making support.
