This Project supports the preparation of the Lake Yerevan and Hrazdan Gorge Rejuvenation Project by establishing a comprehensive biodiversity and ecosystem services baseline for the Lake Yerevan area and Dalma Gardens Urban Forest. The Project applies an integrated ecosystem approach, recognizing the ecological connectivity between these landscapes and their importance for urban resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable landscape planning.
Key objectives include:
-
Biodiversity Baseline Assessment – Conducting multi-season surveys of habitats, flora, fauna, and ecosystem services.
-
Environmental Safeguards Support – Providing ecological data to inform safeguards, biodiversity risk assessment, and sustainable project planning.
-
Nature-Based Urban Planning – Supporting urban forest management, landscape restoration, and biodiversity-sensitive design.
-
Future Investment Preparation – Establishing a scientific foundation for feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and long-term ecosystem management.
Through an integrated ecological approach, the Project aims to strengthen biodiversity-informed decision-making and support the sustainable transformation of the Lake Yerevan–Hrazdan Gorge landscape. The generated knowledge and spatial data will contribute to resilient urban development, ecosystem conservation, and the integration of nature-based solutions into future planning processes.
