Green Key Armenia: Promoting Sustainable Tourism and Green Certification in Armenia

The program supports hospitality businesses in adopting effective waste management practices, reducing their environmental impact, and fostering environmental awareness among employees and guests through sustainability education.

 

The project's overall objective is to increase the adoption of environmentally responsible practices within the hospitality sector and encourage businesses to pursue internationally recognized sustainability certification. By advancing these practices, the Green Key certification contributes to the protection of Armenia’s natural and cultural heritage while strengthening the competitiveness of the country’s hospitality industry in the global market. In addition, the initiative promotes a culture of environmental responsibility among stakeholders, supporting the transition toward a more sustainable future for Armenia.

To date, several hospitality establishments in Armenia have successfully obtained the Green Key certification, including:

 

•    The Alexander, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Yerevan

•    Holiday Inn Yerevan – Republic Square

•    Yerevan Marriott Hotel

•    Courtyard by Marriott Yerevan.
