The assignment was carried out within the framework of the formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure required by Armenian legislation. The selected site, with a total area of 5.5 hectares, was identified by the client in cooperation with Hayantar SNCO (Armforest) for the implementation of forest restoration activities through tree planting.
The assessment focused on evaluating potential environmental impacts associated with the planned interventions, ensuring compliance with national requirements and environmental protection standards.
Key activities and achievements include:
• Site selection and project context:
Identification of a 5.5-hectare area in cooperation with Hayantar SNCO for forest restoration purposes through afforestation activities.
• Multidisciplinary field assessment:
A team of five specialists, including a forestry expert, botanist, zoologist, soil specialist, and hydrologist, conducted detailed field observations of the site to evaluate existing environmental conditions.
• Assessment of key environmental components:
Evaluation of potential impacts on natural ecosystems (forests and biodiversity), soil, and water resources. No cultural heritage sites were identified in or around the project area.
• Literature review and supplementary analysis:
In addition to fieldwork, a comprehensive review of relevant scientific and technical sources was conducted to support the assessment of potential impacts during both the implementation and maintenance phases of forest restoration activities.
As a result, the EIA process provided a solid scientific basis for understanding environmental conditions and potential impacts, ensuring that forest restoration activities are planned and implemented in an environmentally responsible manner.
Implementation Period: 10/2019 - 06/2020
