Conducting necessary analysis and development of the Sevan National Park management plan

Sevan National Park represents a critical area for the conservation of ecosystem. Despite its importance, the area is highly vulnerable to climate change and anthropogenic threats, including unsustainable resource use and gaps in governance and institutional coordination.
The project aimed to develop a comprehensive management plan for Sevan National Park and to improve the overall management framework for Lake Sevan. It includes the review of political and institutional frameworks and directions related to the management of the lake. The assignment supports strengthening governance mechanisms and aligning management approaches with international best practices. Key activities and achievements of the project include:
• Comprehensive management planning:
A strategic and science-based management plan was developed to guide conservation, resource use, and long-term management of Sevan National Park.
• Review of political and institutional frameworks:
Existing policies, legal frameworks, and institutional arrangements related to Lake Sevan were assessed to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Governance and institutional strengthening:
Governance mechanisms were strengthened to improve coordination, effectiveness, and transparency in decision-making processes.
• Alignment with international best practices:
Management approaches were proposed and aligned with international standards to ensure sustainable and efficient ecosystem management.
The project promotes the integration of conservation priorities with the sustainable and responsible use of natural resources.
As a result, the management system of Sevan National Park is significantly strengthened. The project contributes to improved institutional capacity, supports informed decision-making, and enhances the long-term resilience of this important ecosystem, while ensuring its conservation and sustainable use for future generations․
